Nutrition is a core element of fitness. Statistically, about only 20% of people go back to the gym after their first 8 weeks. If thats you, its great and keep at it! If that not you, and you cannot find the motivation to go back, but still want to be healthy, you haven’t lost yet! About 80% of weight loss is determined by the foods you eat, while only 20% is determined by your exercise. That being said, there is no perfect answer for getting fit… there’s no rule book that says you need to eat a certain food everyday for 3 months (and boy, that would be boring!), or go to the gym everyday for 5 hours a day (which wouldn’t be helpful either because your body needs to recuperate). Its a combination and balance of both exercise and nutrition. However, by eating right, you will be doing half of it, and it will help you get back into the gym and on track with your fitness routine, especially when you start to see results!

We only get one body to live in, and many of us don’t treat it as we should. Sometimes we make an effort here or there, but in general we take it for granted that we are well and alive. Instead of taking it for granted and feeding your body whatever is near you, why not track what you are actually putting into your body? Your body is a temple, and only by tracking your nutrition in terms of macro and micro nutrients, in additional to caloric intake, and low glycemic foods, will you finally treat yourself right and build your body into the impressive temple you are.

It is by tracking your meals and choosing to eat well that you will truly treat yourself right. Keep in mind that your health is an investment, not an expense. Making the proper investment in yourself will help you build a better and longer future. Treat yourself to good foods which will not only make you look good, but feel good. Might as well work on your food habits if you’re working hard at the gym everyday also, right?
