Frequently Asked Questions

How does this work?

La Comida MTL is a meal prep company. We prepare healthy, balanced meals for individuals and delivery them weekly. Our menus change weekly and are developed in order to help individuals eat cleaner, better, whole foods. We do not use any processed ingredients or preservatives. This is ideal for those who are looking to lose weight by eating better, maintain ideal weight, or individuals who simply do not have the time or want to cook their own meals every day of the week.

How is La Comida MTL different from other meal prep?

La Comida MTL actually began as a fluke! Chef & owner Nathalie Des Rosiers had trained in some of the best restaurants in the world while living in Europe from 2010-2014, though never learnt the balance between delicious meals and clean eating (especially in France with all the butter and salt!). In 2016 she did a few pop-ups in Montreal and realized the demand for her food, but finally had the idea for La Comida MTL when she decided to change her habits and underwent her own body transformation. Through a change in her fitness, and eating habits Nathalie lost a total of 19 kg (42 lbs) and kept it off (though still having some ice cream and wine of course – you gotta live a little!). Thereafter friends and family asked her to make extra healthy meals here and there, and soon enough La Comida MTL opened to the public.

When do I have to order?

Orders must be placed by Wednesday 12:30pm

When is delivery?

Deliveries are Sunday as of 8am. Approximate delivery times are sent out to all clients on Friday mornings to help them better plan their Sunday.

What if I am not home for the delivery?

We have drop off locations, all of which have fridges to store your food. All you have to do is visit them during their opening hours to pick up your order.

How much does it cost?

Prices for the regular meals range from approximately $12-$15, and the large size from $16-$18. Basically, the more meals you buy, the less it costs per meal!

Can I choose what is in each meal? What if I have allergies?

Unfortunately our meals are not customizable. We’ve developed the recipes in order for the flavours to compliment each other, and of course to hit certain nutritional goals. We do, however, have the option for clients to choose which meals they receive from the weekly menu, this helps clients control exactly what they get in each meal. IF you do have allergies, we recommend to email us to see which meals are suitable before ordering.

How do I reheat the meals?

Meals can be reheated in the containers clients receive them in, with the film on in the microwave for 2-3 minutes, or in the oven (up to 350) for 10-15 minutes. We always recommend to remove any sauces, or cold salads before reheating.

How long do the meals last?

Our meals last easily 5-7 days due to the packaging we use. The hermetic seal allows our meals to have a longer lifespan without additives and preservatives than most alternatives. However, when there happen to be fresh salads on the menu, we do recommend to eat those towards the beginning of the week.

What kind of packaging is used?

We use eco-friendly packaging from Cimapak. They supply us with containers that are made of recycled plastic, and recyclable. Unfortunately the compostable containers start to degrade after 5 days, and we opted away from this as clients can eat our meals up to 7 days later, and freeze meals sometimes.

What kind of produce do you use in the meals?

We use the best and freshest ingredients for our meals. The majority of our grains and staples products are organic, though we are not certified organic. Our meat supplier is AMGA who ensures that the chicken is halal, the beef is AAA aged, and the turkey is corn fed. When it comes to fish and seafood, we use wild or organic farmed only (depending on the fish) from Norref. We use local suppliers for the majority of our vegetables to support the local economic growth when possible.
